F45 LionHeart

LionHeart registration is completed by linking your LionHeart device to your F45 Training app. To link your device and start using LionHeart at your selected studio, go to Track > LionHeart and follow the prompts.

1. Navigate to Track > LionHeart and click Activate LionHeart

2. Select New Member
3. Enter in your Body Stats, these are important to calibrating your LionHeart and presenting the information to you in a way that suits you.

4. Select a display name that will appear on the in-studio LionHeart leaderboards each day during and after class.

5. Activate your band by entering the Sensor ID on the back of your LionHeart device.

6. You're set up! After you complete a class with your LionHeart, you'll find your reports in the same section of the app.

1. Navigate to Track > LionHeart and click Activate LionHeart

2. Select 'I already have a LionHeart Account' 

3. Enter your LionHeart username and password (this is not the same as your F45 Training App login details).

4. Confirm your body stats to ensure your LionHeart is properly calibrated.

5. Confirm your display name that appears on the in-studio LionHeart Leaderboard.

6. Your LionHeart is now linked! All your previous stats and reports should now appear in the LionHeart section of the F45 Training App.

What are heart rate monitors?

Heart rate monitors (HRMs) are devices that are worn on the body, typically the chest or the wrist, that detect heart rate through your skin using specialised optical sensors. The information on the heart rate can include Beats Per Minute (BPM) and Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Typically, apps and programs that pair with these devices require users to input details such as age, weight, height and other data points to estimate maximum heart rate (HR).

What can they be used for?

Typically they are used to monitor cardiovascular exertion during exercise as BPM, however different HRMs present the information in different ways such as:

• A points system such as Lionheart, where sustained cardiovascular exertion over time is calculated into points during a workout
• Calories burnt during a workout
• Metrics that serve as proxies for cardiovascular exertion (e.g. ‘Effort score’ or Strain)
• Metrics that serve as proxies for cardiovascular recovery (i.e. how primed your cardiovascular system is for exercise

How accurate are HRMs?

There are a number of factors that influence accuracy of optical heart rate monitors, some of the key ones are:

• Data inputted by the user during setup as well as maintaining accurate data over time
• Placement of the device, typically chest-mounted HRMs are more accurate than wrist HRMs
• Algorithms can differ between devices in terms of how they calculate things such as calorie burn and max HR
• Algorithm variability/flexibility differs between devices as well. Some devices have algorithms that change depending on the activity type the user is doing, be it exercise, active recovery and sleep
• Some devices are worn only during workouts whereas others are during the entire day. Typically devices designed to be worn for longer periods of time are paired with apps and algorithms that measure resting heart rate to more accurately understand BPM during a workout.
• Quality of hardware varies between devices not just in sensor quality but also the device’s ability to stay in the same place whilst being worn and how affected it is by perspiration
• Perspiration, body hair and skin color can all impact the quality of data collected by HRMs

What is the best HRM?

The best HRM is the one that works for you and is worn consistently. Due to the inherent variance in accuracy not only between devices but even at a specific device level, it is important to ensure that on a workout by workout and/or day by day basis (depending on the device) you use the same device, worn on the same part of the body consistently. 

To get the most out of any HRM, ensure consistent usage and placement to establish a baseline, then monitor progress over time by observing general trends.

Positive trends include:

• Lowering heart rate during workouts where your exertion is the same each time
• Increasing points scores (for supported platforms) as your ability to maintain/increase exertion improves
• Reducing resting heart rate (RHR)
• Increasing Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

How does Lionheart use Heart Rate?

The purpose of LionHeart is to motivate members to have more effective workouts, attend more classes, to ultimately reach their fitness goals faster. It currently addresses these objectives via software and hardware which provide in-studio, real-time updates and post-workout analysis.

Proper care and maintenance of your LionHeart device are essential for ensuring its longevity and optimal performance during your workouts. Here are some guidelines to help you maintain your device correctly.

1. Unclip After Use: Unclip the device from the strap after each use. This simple step helps to prolong the battery life of the monitor. It prevents unnecessary battery drain and maintains the device's readiness for your next workout.

2. Cleaning Your Strap:

   - The chest strap should be cleaned by hand wash only. Prior to washing, detach the Heart Rate Monitor from the strap, as the electronic component is not washable.

   - When cleaning the strap, ensure the water temperature does not exceed 30°C. High temperatures can damage the strap's material and affect its elasticity and fit.

Additional Tips

- Drying the Strap: After washing, gently wring out excess water from the strap and lay it flat to dry in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry, iron, or dry clean the strap.

- Storage: Store the Heart Rate Monitor and the strap separately in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to avoid damage and to maintain the integrity of the components.

- Battery Care for V1 Devices: For devices that use a replaceable battery, ensure that the battery compartment is closed securely after each battery change to avoid moisture ingress that could lead to corrosion or damage.

If you're looking to reset or remove your Heart rate device from your account, it's a quick and easy process. Here's how to do it:

Step 1: Tap on your Profile Photo in the top left corner of the screen.

Step 2: Select LionHeart from the list of options.

Step 3: Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen to access more options.

Step 4: Confirm that you want to remove the device from your account.

And that's it! Your device will be removed from your account and you can start fresh with a new device or simply take a break from tracking your heart rate.

This process does not remove any LionHeart data from your account.

1. Remove the Monitor from the Strap: The first step is to detach the monitor from its strap. This action alone may sometimes reset the device and stop the beeping.

2. Dry the Metal Contacts: If the monitor continues to beep after being removed from the strap, check the metal contacts on the back of the device. Moisture on these contacts can cause continuous beeping. Gently dry the contacts with a soft, dry cloth and check if the beeping stops.

Further Steps if the Beeping Persists

If the initial steps do not resolve the beeping issue, there's another method you can try to reset the device's condition:

1. Drain the Battery: Allow the LionHeart monitor's battery to fully drain until the device shuts down. This process can reset any lingering issues that may be causing the beeping.

2. Recharge the Device: Once the battery is completely drained, recharge your LionHeart monitor to full capacity. After a full charge, observe if the monitor starts beeping again when turned on.

No Report Received for Your Workout? Here's What to Do
If you're missing a workout report, don't worry, we've got you covered with a simplified process to help you access your performance data.

STEP 1: Wait and Check

You can wait up to 24 hours and then check both the F45 Training app and your email to see if you have received the workout report. To check in the app, navigate to 'Track' and then select 'LionHeart' to view your latest workout report. This period allows for any system processing or delays that might affect the delivery of your report.

STEP 2: Submit a Support Request

If after 24 hours your workout report is still missing in both the app and your email, it's time to let us know. We ask that you submit a support request by filling out the form below.

Members may experience issues with their LionHeart monitor during class if they wear a wearable Bluetooth device throughout the session. This is because it causes a disruption in communication between the heart rate TVs and the LionHeart monitor. The problem occurs each time a member uses a Bluetooth device that operates on the ANT+ frequency.

Please remove the wearable Bluetooth device when you start the workout.

One reason for the calculation failure could be the absence of crucial information such as height, weight, and DOB in the F45 Training app.

Bluetooth-enabled devices communicate using signals that can overlap or interfere with the LionHeart system's signal. When this happens, it disrupts the data being recorded, resulting in the appearance of these long, vertical bars on your graph.

3. Proper Attachment of the Monitor: Ensure the heart rate monitor is snapped onto the strap correctly. The 'L' mark on the monitor should be aligned towards the left side of your chest, from your perspective, as shown in the image. This proper orientation is crucial for the monitor to function correctly and communicate with the LionHeart TV screen.

4. Chest Strap Adjustment: Verify that your chest strap is comfortably firm around your chest. The strap needs to be snug to maintain consistent contact but not so tight as to be uncomfortable.

5. Try Another Strap: If adjusting your current strap doesn't resolve the issue, try using a different strap. This can help determine if the problem is with the strap itself.

6. Moisture Application: Sometimes, dry skin or contact pads can hinder the connection between your chest strap and your skin. Lightly moisten the contact pads on the strap to improve conductivity and ensure a strong signal.

• Warm-Up: Engaging in a light warm-up before your session can help increase your heart rate, making it easier for your device to detect and transmit your heart rate data.
• Skin Contact: Make sure the contact pads on the chest strap directly touch your skin, with no clothing in between.

1. Check the Power Source: First, ensure your socket is switched on. It's a simple step but often the culprit behind charging issues.

2. Switch to Another Socket: If the first socket isn't the problem, try using a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the initial socket.

3. Try a Different Charger: Sometimes, the problem might be with the charger itself. Use another charger that's compatible with your LionHeart device to see if this resolves the issue.

4. Borrow a Charger: If you're still facing issues, see if your studio has a charger you can borrow. This will help determine whether the problem lies with your charger or the device.

1. Using the opener key, twist the battery door counterclockwise. Continue twisting until the door pops out

2. Remove the old battery from the underside device

3. Check metal battery contact tabs for any damage. If you notice the battery tabs have been bent inwards, use the point of a pen to bend the metal tab outwards to their original position so they will have good contact to the battery.

4. Observe the ‘+’ symbol on the inside of the battery door. Place the new battery inside the battery door with the + side upwards as shown in the photo.

5. Carefully insert the battery door back into the device. Ensure the arrows line up.

6. Twist the battery door clockwise until the arrows line up.
