F45 Challenge – Apple Health Connection FAQ

What does connecting Apple Health do for the F45 Challenge?
When you connect Apple Health, the F45 app can automatically pull biometric data (like weight) into your Challenge check-ins instead of you typing it in manually each time.

Which biometric fields can Apple Health fill in for Challenge check-ins?

  • Weight

  • Waist circumference

  • Height

  • Body Fat %

  • BMI (Body Mass Index)

  • Lean Body Mass

How do I connect it?
When you start entering your biometrics in the app (e.g. during Challenge registration or a check-in), you'll be prompted with an extra step to allow Apple Health syncing before the biometrics screen appears. You'll need to grant permission for the app to read the relevant data types from Health.

Can I use an InBody scanner or a smart scale?
Yes, but indirectly. F45 doesn't connect to those devices directly. Instead:

  1. You scan or weigh in on your InBody machine or smart scale.

  2. That device's own app writes the results into Apple Health (most InBody and smart scale apps support this via HealthKit).

  3. The F45 app then reads that data out of Apple Health during your Challenge check-in.

So the chain is: Scanner/Scale, its app, Apple Health, then the F45 app.

What data does F45 pull in for check-ins?
Each Challenge check-in is configured with a specific date range ("data from" / "data to"), and the app pulls in whatever relevant Apple Health entries fall in that window, for example, your latest weight reading.

What if Apple Health doesn't have the data for a field?
If a required field has no data in Apple Health for that check-in window, the app flags it with an error banner and shows an "Edit" option so you can manually enter the value. Once you enter it, the check-in looks the same as normal.

Do I need to open the app for my data to sync?
Yes. To pull your latest Apple Health data into a check-in, you need to open the F45 Training app so it can read from Health at that point. It won't update your check-in data in the background while the app is closed, so it's worth opening the app around the time you want your scan or weigh-in reflected in your Challenge check-in.

Will duplicate entries be created if I use multiple devices (e.g. a scale and manual entry)?
The system is designed so the most relevant/authoritative source is used per field. If there's a conflict or missing data, you're given the option to correct it manually.
